Fun Fact

Zion National Park is home to some of the tallest sandstone cliffs in the world, including the famous 2,000-foot-high rock formation known as Angels Landing. The name "Zion" means "heavenly city" and was given to the canyon by Mormon pioneers.

  1. The Zion Canyon Shuttle operates most of the year, and private cars are not allowed in the main canyon during this time.

  2. The Narrows hike requires wading through the Virgin River.

  3. Permits are required for some hikes, including The Subway and overnight trips.
